CERTIFIED STROLLER STRIDES and FIT4BABY INSTRUCTOR
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Chino Hills, CA.
How long have you been married / how did you meet your spouse?
Patrick and I met on a blind date, but we knew we had something special from the beginning because even though it was a blind date both of our families knew each other already, and as it turned out we went on the same Christian Family Retreat growing up. There was even video of us together at the retreat when we were younger. We eventually married at the chapel on the grounds in Montecito where the retreat was held. We’ve now been married for 5 years; 6 years this coming May.
Who are the members of your family?
The members of my family are my husband Patrick, daughter Samantha (Sam), son Mason, and another baby on the way due in April.
Where did you go to school and what did you study?
For my undergrad, I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with my Bachelors Degree in Child and Adolescent Development and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I completed my Master’s Degree from Cal Baptist University in Education with an emphasis in Problem Based Learning.
How did you learn about Stroller Strides?
Growing up I was a swimmer and water polo player, so before having children my go-to exercise was swimming and yoga. After having my first baby, I was having trouble finding the time to get to yoga or the gym for a swim. So I was actually looking online for an exercise program for moms and this one was perfect since I could take my baby with me!
When did you join Stroller Strides as a member?
I joined Stroller Strides at the end of May 2015 when my second child, Mason, was almost 6 months old. We had just moved to the area so I was looking for a great workout and a way to meet other moms in the community.
When did you become an instructor and what motivated you to become an instructor?
I became an instructor in May 2016. I have always loved fitness and exercise. I have played sports since I was a child and continued on to play varsity water polo through high school. During college, I coached boys and girls water polo and swim team at Chino Hills High School. Being apart of the instructor team, in this village that strives to give back to other moms in the community and encourage fitness at the same time, has been amazing. This village is so much more than a workout, and I am motivated each time I go out to instruct a class to provide not only a great workout, but also an atmosphere where moms can come to support each other through motherhood.
What do you hope to provide for our members?
I hope to provide good workouts that are also fun and interactive to our members. I hope to make all members feel supported and welcome in this group of moms, where everyone is here in the trenches of early motherhood together.
How has Stroller Strides affected your life?
Stroller Strides has really enhanced my life in so many ways. I have found a support group with other moms going through the trenches of early motherhood together, great friends, and time dedicated to my health and fitness.
What do you consider the biggest benefit of Stroller Strides?
The biggest benefit of Stroller Strides to me is that I gained a village of other mamas to go through motherhood with while also making fitness a priority for myself. Not only have I maintained a healthier lifestyle, but I have gained friendships and so have my kids.
What are your current fitness goals?
Currently, my fitness goal is to continue to keep exercise my priority and to incorporate more healthy eating recipes into my home for my whole family to enjoy.
