Instructor, Tina Ervin: "I am so excited that our March Mom of the Month is Allyson Slater. From the moment I met Allyson I was connected to her. I truly felt that our paths were meant to cross. Not only is she such a sweet and caring gal, she is an amazing mother to her little boy Carson! She strives daily to be the best mom she can be by setting a great example for son, by working out, but also by taking care of herself mentally and physically. She has made such an impact on my life, and I adore her to pieces. So grateful she is a part of this AMAZING VILLAGE! "
This month we recognize ALLYSON SLATER for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda FIT4MOM Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, ALLYSON," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!"
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband Bobby and My son 9 month old Carson
2. What is or was your career?
I worked at Morgan Stanley Wealth Management for 4 years as a Client Service Associate and when I found out I was pregnant Bobby and I made the decision to leave and focus on being a full time stay at home mom.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I started Fit4Mom when Carson was 2 months old so July of 2017. I was at a very low point of what was supposed to be the happiest time of my life. I suffered from postpartum depression and had no idea how to get myself out of a deep hole. I searched a few websites and came across this amazing village. The first class I took I was absolutely hooked, not only on the amazing work out but the more amazing ladies and their beautiful kids. I was welcomed with open arms and realized that this was what was going to get me out of my hole. New friends, amazing advice for a first time mom like myself, and the thought that I was not going through this crazy thing called motherhood alone.
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
It's hard!!! From learning how to breastfeed, change diapers, function on no sleep and to still try and portray a normal life. I of course knew that being a mom wasn't going to be easy but I was definitely not prepared for what came my way. With the help of my new mommy friends it makes the journey that much better.
5. Favorite app(s) or website(s)?
6. List three current obsessions.
Daily harvest - they have premade smoothies and soups sent directly to your door. Love them.
Stitchfix- going off my favorite website. They send you five pieces of clothing and you get to choose what you want and if you don't like something you send it back.
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
If he could talk and tell my he would probably say my singing and dancing :)
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
You don't have to go through this alone!! Finding friends and a support system that can help you was the best thing I did. An hour of YOU time makes you a better mommy!!!
