July Mom of the Month - ERIN CLARK
Instructor, Sally Green: "I am beyond excited to recognize Erin Clark as mom of the month. Her dedication in Stroller Strides and LEAN mommy is inspirational. She always has a positive attitude and her presence in class always puts a smile on my face. Not only does she work hard throughout class but her amazing personality makes me so happy that she joined Stroller Strides. Thank you, Erin, for making us look good. Love ya, girl!"
This month we recognize ERIN for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda Fit4Mom Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, ERIN," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!
1. Who are the members of your family?
My husband, Mike, our 7 month old daughter, Hailey, and our 2 year old boxer-mix dog, Buster.
2. What is or was your career?
I direct and choreograph children’s musical theater productions. I am also enjoying my new job as a stay-at-home mommy!
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I joined Stroller Strides in January, just about as soon as I got the okay from my doctor to start working out again after Hailey was born. I was super eager to be active and start losing the baby weight - which I am excited to admit that I am almost there, thanks to Stroller Strides! But the most amazing thing Fit4Mom and Stroller Strides has done for me is connect me with other moms. I was the first of my close friends to have a baby, and even though they were incredibly supportive and caring, I was lonely. Being able to talk with other moms who understand what I’m going through and can empathize has been a sanity saver. These past few months have been the happiest of my life, and while that is mostly because motherhood is the most wonderful thing ever, it is also due to the incredible encouragement and friendships I have found through Stroller Strides. I love it so much!
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
How fast time flies! I know everybody says, “They grow up so fast,” but I always took that with a grain of salt. But they really do grow up so fast! Hailey is learning and growing every day- it’s amazing and exciting and depressing all at the same time.
5. Favorite website(s)?
Facebook, Amazon, and Failblog
6. List three current obsessions.
1- Game of Thrones- seriously obsessed!! We started watching it when I was 38 weeks pregnant and I made Mike bring his tablet to the hospital so that we could watch a few episodes before delivery (after the epidural kicked in, of course J). I'll be depressed on Sunday nights until the new season starts again.
3- Stroller Strides!!!
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
About once a day we have a dance party in the living room. Either I dance like a fool in front of her, or I hold her in my arms and we dance together. She definitely enjoys mommy’s taste in music, although I will have to edit some of the songs on our playlist once she is old enough to understand the words.
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
I feel like I should be asking for advice rather than giving it, since I’m so new to motherhood. I would, however, tell any new moms to go and find a mommy group, whether that’s Stroller Strides (which I whole-heartedly recommend), a church group, a neighborhood meet up, etc. It’s intimidating to step out of your comfort zone, especially as an adult trying to make new friends, but it is an absolute necessity. Having people to connect with on a “mommy” level was a game changer for me, so don’t be scared- just do it! You won’t regret it.
