February Mom of the Month - MIRANDA YING
Instructor, Shelley Hernandez: "Miranda always knows how to make us laugh! She is real, down to earth and an amazing mom. I always love seeing her in class! "
This month we recognize MIRANDA YING for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda Fit4Mom Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, MIRANDA," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!
1. Who are the members of your family?
Nordy (husband) Noemi (2yr old) Mila (8 mth old)
2. What is or was your career?
My career was, owned and operated a company for whole sale, consulting and design for footwear, I carried a few brands when I shut it down to be a SAHM. I am currently getting into rental property investments.
3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I have been a member of Stroller Strides since December 2012. Best decision I could have made as a new mom and a woman, it has been a great way to get outside and get going in the morning, build friendships with other moms, a way to stay healthy and work out without paying for a babysitter, and problem solve among the group with any current issues I am having with my kids... this list is much longer but I will leave it at that :)
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
The most surprising thing about being a mom is really just how challenging it can be. Nothing has ever been as tough as this and I used to work 14+ hour days with little time off and actually have worked 3 months in a row before with no days off... this was no comparison of the mental strength, stamina and patience it takes to be a mom.
5. Favorite websites?
6. List three current obsessions.
1 - I am always obsessed with music! All kinds, all the time!
2 - Fashion is always another obsession of mine. Since I started working at Nordstrom at 16 and have been in the fashion industry ever since... its always on my agenda!
3 - Health and fitness, although I really got out of that lifestyle with my last pregnancy, I have been working out since 14 years old, always worried about what I eat, not as a diet but for good nutrition! I have tried a lot of different styles of fitness training... My current choices are yoga, stroller strides, and simply less carbs at night.
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
Not sure since my kids are so young what they like about me, but I am kind of a goof ball so I find them loving to joke around with me, we laugh a lot and horse around at home.
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
Best tip is to make friends with other moms, and in particular that have kids around the same age as you. Its just nice to know you and your kids are not alone in the crazy stuff that goes down in life! Second tip, and the "secret" to a happy life is to fill your life with positive thoughts, actions and words. This is only one life... we have the power to make it great!
