Instructor, Catherine Crowell: "Katie Monroe is a rockstar! She is 200% dedicated and motivated to giving her best! It is always an honor to workout with Katie as she is full of positive energy and drive. Katie is truly a joy to be around. She is an incredible Mom to her three beautiful girls and she is an inspiration to Our Village. Thank you, Katie, for being a fabulous example of making strides in fitness, motherhood and life!"
This month we recognize KATIE MONROE for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda FIT4MOM Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, KATIE," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!
1. Who are the members of your family?
The members of my family are my husband, Brandon, and our 3 daughters, Mya (6), Bryce (2) and Norah (6 months)
2. What is or was your career?
I am a social worker and work for Nightlight, a local foster and adoption agency, as a Program Manager where I oversee and supervise our domestic and foster care programs.
3. How long have you been a member of FIT4MOM of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I have been part of FIT4MOM for close to 4 years when I joined just before Mya turned 3. FIT4MOM has done SO much for me mentally and physically. I'm so thankful to be part of this community, it was so tough to be away while I was sick and pregnant. I love the interactions and conversations I get to have with other moms. It helps me feel encouraged, validated, and not so alone on this journey of motherhood. I love how supportive this community is to every single mom and family - it's really amazing to me. As a working mom, the hours I have with my kids during the day are few so it's a blessing to be able to take care of myself and workout while still being present with them.
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
I have been surprised that I am not bothered by my girls poop, pee or vomit - no matter how disgusting the "events" have been - yet I have the weakest stomach to that stuff in situations that do not involve my children.
5. Favorite website(s)?
I don't really have a favorite website but I often go on Facebook, mom blogs, mom fashion blogs, and other mommy related sites :)
6. List three current obsessions.
1. Stroller Strides
2. Pure Barre
3. My baby
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
My girls love when I sing to them. I often lay down with them in bed to fall asleep and most nights our routine includes singing a couple of our favorite songs. I love listening to them start to sing along and calm down as they start to go to sleep.
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
Take care of yourself and find time to do the things that help you stay mentally strong. Surround yourself with people who will encourage you and love you, especially in the hard times. And make sense of your past - I believe this is the greatest thing we can do for our children - to parent from the inside out.
