Instructor, Lauren Murty: "It is such a pleasure to have Shelley in class. She always has a bright smile on her face and is very welcoming toward the new moms in our classes. On a fitness level, Shelley is always up for a challenge and gives each class 100%! I am so happy that Shelley has become apart of our Stroller Strides family. We are truly lucky to have such an awesome example of a mom that is making strides in fitness and motherhood! Way to go, Shelley!"
This month we recognize SHELLEY HERNANDEZ for her accomplishment and dedication to fitness, motherhood and life! Our Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Yorba Linda Stroller Strides Team would like to say, "THANK YOU, SHELLEY," for being part of our Stroller Strides family!
1. Who are the members of your family?
Myself, my husband Corey, Makenzie the little munchkin, Ember our 4 leg child and 3 chickens. Yes, we have chickens. We would have a whole farm if we could fit "everyone."
2. What is or was your career?
I was working as the Patient Services Manager of Physiotherapy Associates. 3. How long have you been a member of Stroller Strides of North Orange County and what has it done for you?
I have been a member of Stroller Strides for about 7 months. I can not begin to list all of the things SS has done for me. I am sure I set the record for first member to cry to the instructor on her first day of class!!! hahaha! Thanks Lauren and Sally for helping to put the pieces of my mind back together that day! I was struggling severely with post partum depression. I was convinced when I was pregnant that this would never happen to me because I have always been an optimistic, happy person. Stroller Strides played the largest part in my recovery. I can not begin to thank the instructors and my peers enough for being my strength, even when you did not know it! Now that I have completely recovered and was able to get off of my temporary medicine, I can say that I am truly blessed to have experienced PPD. I feel humbled by the experience and I feel as God chose me so that I am compassionate towards others who have depression. Please, if anyone needs someone to talk to, I am your girl!
4. What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?
Everything! I can not believe how much fun I have! Makenzie makes me so happy every day!
5. Favorite website(s)?
Amazon, Etsy, Facebook (yes lets admit it ladies!) and Zulily!
6. List three current obsessions.
Starbucks, taking Makenzie to Target and of course dogs. I am always obsessed with dogs. I would adopt every homeless dog if I had the time to properly care for them!
7. What is your child's/children's favorite thing about you or favorite thing that you do?
She absolutely loves to be tickled on her sides! Her laugh is the sweetest sound!
8. Any tips for other moms out there?
Advice huh? The thing we all LOVE to hear, right?! None from me- only you know what is best for your family!
