ANGELA BRIDGFORD
FRANCHISE OWNER, CERTIFIED STROLLER STRIDES, BODY BACK INSTRUCTOR and L.E.A.N. COUNSELOR

Angela Bridgford is a Southern California native. As a child, she was surrounded by health and fitness as her father had a passion for body-building and eating well. During her time at Vanguard University of Southern California, where she received her Bachelor’s degree, Bridgford found her own love for fitness through running. Studying psychology also sparked an interest in her to know more about the anatomy and physiology of the human body. It inspired Bridgford to get healthy and find exercise she loved.

After having her first child in 2006, Bridgford was ready to awaken that same passion and love for fitness and health while being a stay-at-home mom. She found Stroller Strides, a local franchise specializing in fitness and motherhood. Bridgford was approached by the owner and instructor to pursue professional training within Stroller Strides. In 2007, she became a SS certified instructor and went on to become a L.E.A.N. (Learn Eating Awareness & Nutrition) Counselor in 2008 and Body Back instructor in 2011 helping moms adopt a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families.

"Being a mother can be very lonely even when you have tons of support. Get yourself involved in a group where you can connect with other moms and babies. More importantly, treat yourself well on a regular basis by exercising and eating well. A happy and healthy mom makes for a good wife and mommy!”

Bridgford resides in Placentia with her husband, Mike, two daughters Ellie and Lillie, and son, Chaz.

Where did you grow up?
I was born in Newport Beach and grew up in South Orange County: Mission Viejo/ Lake Forest

What is your fitness background?
I have been studio dancing since I was a child. I eventually became an instructor at my dance studio specializing in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, gymnastics, cheer and character. I also had the chance to manage a gymnastic studio for 5 years called The Little Gym where I got the opportunity to teach tumbling teams, mommy and me classes and basic elementary gymnastics.

How long have you been married / how did you meet your spouse?

I have been married to my husband for six years as of August. I was lucky enough to be set up by one of my clients I served at the YMCA where I had been a child care director for over 10 years.

Who are the members of your family?

The members of my family include myself, my husband Andrew, my 3 year old daughter Elleyna, my 1 year old daughter Charlotte and my two step children, Jordyn who is in high school and Ethan who is in 7th grade.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

I graduated from Cal State Long Beach, with a bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies.

How did you learn about Stroller Strides?

One of my neighbors told me all about this wonderful program that combined a mom’s group with an exercise group! I fell in love with the idea even before I got to try a class

When did you join Stroller Strides as a member?

I joined stroller strides in May 2013 when my daughter was 6 weeks old.

When did you become an instructor and what motivated you to become an instructor?

I became an instructor in February 2014. This just seemed like the perfect opportunity to do what I love and support the well-being of my mommy friends in the area. I also love that I get to work with my “friends” and my “baby”! How lucky am I?!

What do you hope to provide for our members?

I hope to encourage each mommy to achieve their personal best as far as health and fitness. I also want to make a positive impact on their lives while being a resource! Lastly, I will strive to make each class filled with high energy, calorie burning and muscles toning exercises and a fun-filled class for the kiddos!

How has Stroller Strides affected your life?

Stroller Strides is the exercise program I needed and longed for! As a first time mommy, I needed to surround myself with other mommies going through the same things! I never knew I would benefit so much from this group! The moms I have met, play groups I have participated in, the mom’s night outs I have thankfully been a part of and the body and optimal health I have always wanted…I wouldn’t trade this program for anything!

What do you consider the biggest benefit of Stroller Strides?

The two biggest benefits are my health and the support! Again, I am so impressed with my body and with the friends (mommies) I get to work out with every day!

What are your current fitness goals?
I will continue to tone my body, expand my fitness and health knowledge and continue to encourage my family to live a healthy and active lifestyle!

When did you join Stroller Strides as a member?
January 2016

When did you become an instructor and what motivated you to become an instructor?
May 2016. I taught dance for years and missed the "leading/teaching" aspect. I admire our amazing instructors, and just thought it would be a great opportunity to further my knowledge of fitness.

What do you hope to provide for our members?
A welcoming, loving, supportive environment. I hope to inspire and encourage them to push themselves to the next level in their fitness journey. So that they leave class feeling proud of themselves!

How has Stroller Strides affected your life?

It honestly has been LIFE CHANGING!! I struggled horribly from Mom guilt. I need fitness in my life, for of course my physical health, but more so my mental health. I felt guilty asking someone to watch my daughter so I could go work out. It felt selfish, even though people tell you it isn't, and you need to make time for yourself as a Mom. I was not working out as often as I wanted/ needed to. SS has been the answer to my prayers. Kenna and I can work out together, play and make memories. Not to mention meet new fiends! It also teaches the kids that fitness and exercise is a positive/fun thing- not punishment! The kids ask to get out and join their moms in exercising! How amazing is that?!?

What do you consider the biggest benefit of Stroller Strides?

Everything I mentioned above. The physical, and mental health. The Moms are just such welcoming, loving supportive strong women. This is by far the best "moms group" ever!! I am having a hard time putting it into words when I think of how I truly feel - and how fit4moms has changed my life.

What are your current fitness goals?

Just to continue my overall strength, and endurance! To always push myself one step further than I think I can go!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Chino Hills, CA.

How long have you been married / how did you meet your spouse?

Patrick and I met on a blind date, but we knew we had something special from the beginning because even though it was a blind date both of our families knew each other already, and as it turned out we went on the same Christian Family Retreat growing up. There was even video of us together at the retreat when we were younger. We eventually married at the chapel on the grounds in Montecito where the retreat was held. We’ve now been married for 5 years; 6 years this coming May.

Who are the members of your family?

The members of my family are my husband Patrick, daughter Samantha (Sam), son Mason, and another baby on the way due in April.

Where did you go to school and what did you study?

For my undergrad, I graduated from Cal State Fullerton with my Bachelors Degree in Child and Adolescent Development and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I completed my Master’s Degree from Cal Baptist University in Education with an emphasis in Problem Based Learning.

How did you learn about Stroller Strides?

Growing up I was a swimmer and water polo player, so before having children my go-to exercise was swimming and yoga. After having my first baby, I was having trouble finding the time to get to yoga or the gym for a swim. So I was actually looking online for an exercise program for moms and this one was perfect since I could take my baby with me!

When did you join Stroller Strides as a member?

I joined Stroller Strides at the end of May 2015 when my second child, Mason, was almost 6 months old. We had just moved to the area so I was looking for a great workout and a way to meet other moms in the community.

When did you become an instructor and what motivated you to become an instructor?

I became an instructor in May 2016. I have always loved fitness and exercise. I have played sports since I was a child and continued on to play varsity water polo through high school. During college, I coached boys and girls water polo and swim team at Chino Hills High School. Being apart of the instructor team, in this village that strives to give back to other moms in the community and encourage fitness at the same time, has been amazing. This village is so much more than a workout, and I am motivated each time I go out to instruct a class to provide not only a great workout, but also an atmosphere where moms can come to support each other through motherhood.

What do you hope to provide for our members?

I hope to provide good workouts that are also fun and interactive to our members. I hope to make all members feel supported and welcome in this group of moms, where everyone is here in the trenches of early motherhood together.

How has Stroller Strides affected your life?

Stroller Strides has really enhanced my life in so many ways. I have found a support group with other moms going through the trenches of early motherhood together, great friends, and time dedicated to my health and fitness.

What do you consider the biggest benefit of Stroller Strides?

The biggest benefit of Stroller Strides to me is that I gained a village of other mamas to go through motherhood with while also making fitness a priority for myself. Not only have I maintained a healthier lifestyle, but I have gained friendships and so have my kids.

What are your current fitness goals?

Currently, my fitness goal is to continue to keep exercise my priority and to incorporate more healthy eating recipes into my home for my whole family to enjoy.

When did you become an instructor and what motivated you to become an instructor?

December 2016. Since joining as a member, I have constantly been inspired and encouraged by the amazing instructors and mommies in this group. When the opportunity arose to be able to give back to this community as an instructor, I knew I had to go for it!

What do you hope to provide for our members?

A fun and challenging workout, a word of encouragement when you need it most, and a supportive friend to be there in every mountain and valley of motherhood.

How has Stroller Strides affected your life?

Stroller Strides has been a HUGE blessing in my life. I had a hard time finding a good routine for working out during my pregnancy and after having my son, since I was always tired and never wanted to be away from him. Once I found FIT4MOM my whole “mommy world” changed. I’ve been able to find a new energy and confidence as a mom and I give all the credit to Our Village!

What do you consider the biggest benefit of Stroller Strides?

Physical health and mental sanity! Never before have I met a group of moms that are so encouraging and supportive of one another in every aspect of motherhood. And a big bonus, my son loves our time at Stroller Strides as much as I do!

What are your current fitness goals?

To increase my strength and endurance to keep up with my toddler and future babies, and also to continue to make healthy food and lifestyle choices so I can be the best mommy and wife to my family!

Yorba Linda Playgroup Captain

ARROYO PARK

My name is Erin Clark and I am super excited to be the Playgroup Captain for Arroyo. I always looked forward to the weekly playgroups when I first joined stroller strides (my daughter’s first art projects!), and now I am so happy to be in charge of organizing them for all of our moms and kiddos.

I live in Yorba Linda with my husband Mike, our daughter Hailey, and our dog Buster. My husband and I are originally from the Bay Area but moved to Orange County to go to Cal State Fullerton (where we met). After college we both liked it so much that we decided to stay down here. We got married in 2009, made Yorba Linda our home in 2012, had our daughter in 2013, joined stroller strides in 2014, and the rest is history! J

I am so grateful for having found Fit4Mom North OC. It is so much more than a workout- it truly is a village of moms who support and care for one another. I am honored to be a part of the Fit4Mom team and look forward to many fun playgroups with you and your kids!

Fullerton Playgroup Captain

BASTANCHURY PARK

Hello, my name is Kim and I am thrilled to be the Playgroup Captain for Bastanchury Park. Fullerton has been my home since 2009, and I joined Fit4Mom in May 2014. Two things I am passionate about are fitness and interior design. I am also a wine lover and shopaholic.

My family includes my husband, Rob, our son Connor, and two cats, Emmie and Fritzi. Rob and I met in 2007 on New Year’s Eve and got married in October of 2012. Connor came along in March of 2014, and it has been the most amazing experience. He brings so much joy to our lives every day and sometimes all through the night.

Fit4Mom is a wonderful organization, and I’m so thankful to have discovered it. My favorite part is that I can workout and interact with my son. I feel better for the rest of my day knowing I did something good for myself. It helps me not just physically, but mentally and socially. Seeing the other moms makes my day brighter, so I look forward to going every day I can.

As playgroup captain, I am eager to get to know you and your babies...
